$1,710 towards $500

Hi y'all,

Short and sweet: I'm raising money for the Client Welfare Fund at the Louisiana Center for Children's Rights. As most of you know, I'm working as a staff attorney at LCCR, representing people who were sentenced to life without parole as teenagers (or are facing such a sentence in a current case).

The fund is used to purchase small quality-of-life items or for emergency support to clients' families (in the event of, say, a category 5 hurricane). For my older clients, the most requested items by far are study materials for the GED and HISET tests, which are required for them to receive parole. For my younger clients, it's YA novels, comics, and coloring books, which can make the absolutely awful world of juvenile detention just a little more tolerable. The fund is also used to help clients buy basic necessities after being released from prison -- as I hope all of my clients will be one day!

I'm not much of a rah-rah fundraiser, and I try to avoid preaching to the choir. All I'll say is that every donation is going to directly improve the day-to-day life of someone extremely deserving. If you'd like to know more about any of this, please give me a call!

Much love,

Marshall
