$965 towards $750

I am honored to be a part of the Louisiana Center for Children's Rights. Every day, my colleagues go to the mat for kids involved in the justice system, both inside and outside the courtroom.

Unfortunately, there's so much we don't have control over. Sometimes kids face big barriers to success, and sometimes the barriers are seemingly small, but insurmountable to a family that's just scraping by.

We have had clients who are homeless be suspended from school because they can't afford the school uniform. My colleague Heather had a kid whose family lost their home, but couldn't afford the rental truck to move in with relatives. A whole team of my coworkers worked to get a young man out of prison and into college on a scholarship, but he still needed help with dorm supplies and textbooks.

Often my colleagues will cover these costs out of pocket because no child should needlessly suffer over $50, $100, or $500. But those costs can quickly add up. That's why we started the Small Favors Fund - a reserve used to cover the small costs that can stand in the way of opportunity for our kids.

This holiday season, my entire office is raising money for that fund, and I hope you will join us.

  • For just $25, you can purchase books for an incarcerated child to read
  • For $50, you can provide one child with clothing for a job interview
  • For $100, you can rent a moving van for a family facing eviction
  • For $250, you can cover the cost of school extracurricular activities for one child
  • And for $500, you can help a returning juvenile lifer get set up in a new home

Vulnerable children are the most likely to be pulled into the justice system, and face the biggest obstacles to leaving it behind. The least we can do is take care of some of the smallest costs that stand in their way.

Please join me in helping Louisiana's most vulnerable kids. I am so grateful for your kindness and support.
