Rally to Raise Money for LCCR's Client Resource Fund

Hey Friends,

As most folks know, I advocate for justice reform at the Louisiana Center for Children's Rights. While I work on the policy side of things, a huge portion of the organization's efforts are directed toward providing legal representation and other wraparound support for youth and their families.

Our Children's Defense Team, for example, is the juvenile public defender in New Orleans, where our lawyers, social workers, investigators, and case managers stand up for children in court while helping them navigate the school system, access mental health services, and connect with job training programs.

Often what stands between our kids and their success are small costs. Some kids, for example, are suspended because they can't afford a new school uniform. Others perhaps want to to get their juvenile record cleared so that they can get a job, but can't afford the cost of doing so.

We believe that no child should be mired in the justice system because they lack means to pay for these small things.

This holiday season, I'm rallying to raise money for LCCR's Small Favors Fund -- a reserve used to help their children cover the small costs that stand in the way of opportunity.

• For just $25, you can purchase books for an incarcerated child to read
• For $50, you can provide one child with clothing for a job interview
• For $100, you can rent a moving van for a family facing eviction
• For $250, you can cover the cost of school extracurricular activities for one child
• And for $500, you can help a returning juvenile lifer get set up in a new home
